PoleStar allows users to manage and to control how and when remote sites are polled. PoleStar provides flexible, user-definable polling schedules that can be assigned to groups of data collection devices having similar polling requirements. PoleStar will poll these sites automatically and store the polled data in files arranged conveniently by site number and date, ready for further user-specific application processing.

PoleStar has been designed with ease of use in mind. Its user interface is divided into four main windows that display spreadsheet-style listings of detailed information. This simplifies the presentation of the information, making it easy for the user to identify and access.

While polling is taking place, PoleStar displays polling statistics and events in real-time to allow quick identification of potential problems and minimize possible disruptions in the data collection process.

ODBC-compliant database is used to store details of user access management, site information, polling schedules, communications management, system information, and polling statistics for ease of analysis and report generation. This makes integration with third party software easily implemented.
